Methuen Public Schools and Essex Rowing Club, Inc. have teamed up to form Methuen Crew, a scholastic rowing and sculling team for students of the Methuen Public Schools.
Methuen Crew returns to the water this March for the 2017 Spring Season. Regular season practices will begin March 1 for returning varsity rowers and March 13 for both new high school rowers and for all grammar school rowers. New athletes interested in joining the team should contact the Program Coordinator for information about registering. Participation is open to atheltes grades 6 though 12, with younger athletes participating 2-4 days/week in a developmental program and older athletes training 5-6 days/week to compete against other club and scholastic programs throughout Massachusetts and the Northeast United States.
There is no fee to participate though competitive team members are responsible for their own racing expenses. All athletes are also expected to participate in team fundraising events.

We have confirmed access to the pool at the Greater Lawrence Technical School or our swim test. It will be on Friday, March 18 from 3:00-5:00 PM. All new athletes are expected to swim 200 meters, tread water for 10', and put a lifejacket on while in the water. Any athlete that is unable to pass the test will be able to use a low impact lifejacket while training on the water. If you cannot make this date you can complete the test on your own at any pool that has a lifeguard on duty. Email Hallie at email@example.com for a copy of the form you will need to bring with you and return to us upon completion.

Registration for the grammar school team is now closed. Anyone interested in getting on the mailing list for fall is encouraged to email us in the meantime. We are going to have an Informational Meeting for new athletes interested in rowing this spring on Thursday, January 28th at 7:45 pm. The meeting will be held at our training facility at 656 Lowell Street in Methuen. We will have a second meeting later in February for athletes that are starting later and didn't make the first. We will announce the date and time for that here in a couple weeks.
Regatta dates are listed below. Athletes are responsible for their own transportation to competitions. Race schedules are generally not available until 24-48 hours before an event, and will be forwarded to the team at that time. Atheltes should be prepared to race at any time during the days listed. Unless noted otherwise, races are for the high school team.
